Fire and Smoke Damage Restoration
There are different agents that must be used to extinguish specific class fires. A typical fire extinguisher may be used to put out class A, B, or C fires. There are actually different types of extinguishers: a dry chemical triplex (for use on class A, B or C fires), halon, water (only for use on class A fires), and carbon dioxide (for use on class B and C fires). Specific fire extinguishers are used for specific reasons. Be sure to read the label and have the necessary extinguisher readily available in the unfortunate event of a fire in your home or business.
Remember to use the acronym PASS when using an extinguisher: Pull Aim Squeeze Sweep. Pull the pin from the top of the extinguisher to have the ability to squeeze the handle, aim the extinguisher at the base of the fire, squeeze the handle, and sweep the end of the extinguisher back and forth over the base of the fire. Once the fire looks as though it is out, be careful as many fires have the ability to ignite a second time.
