A 61-unit apartment building had a fire in the fall of 2008, leaving about 90 people homeless. The fire started in a third floor laundry room and then quickly spread throughout the attic of the building through a garbage shoot. The firemen had to work from aerial trucks pouring thousands of gallons of water on the roof to maintain the fire and prevent it from spreading to further units. The complex was quickly boarded up to prevent further damage or from anyone being hurt. Almost every single unit in the building had to be demolished down to the frame, while the roof was rebuilt. The frame was then back-sprayed, something we do to alleviate any smoke smell that may have reached the frame of the building.
