Topic 1: Ethics and Unfair Claims Practices (4 Credits)
Instructor: Bob Loonan
Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Unethical behavior happens more and more in insurance losses. Vendors and consumers are becoming more sophisticated about gaming the process. Agents can be a valuable resource to make sure settlements are fair for all parties involved. Preferred vendor programs are intended to keep everyone honest, but often fail to do so. This class will review best practices in claim settlements and review problem case studies. It will also give you sound bites and talking points that will improve your loss ratio and forge strong relationships with vendors resolving your client losses.
Topic 2: Problems with Water Losses (4 Credits)
Time: 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Water claims have always been complicated to get covered. There are things you can do to help your clients be proactive in preventing them. There are multiple types of water losses. Some are covered others are not. Each type of loss is covered differently. Knowing how the policy deals with various losses will allow you to set proper customer expectations. Once there is damage, mitigating it properly will prevent even bigger problems (and higher claim costs) down the road.
