Ice Damage Restoration Services
Have you noticed the beautiful artwork that Mother Nature has recently provided us? Those amazing and intricate icicles hanging from your roof? They may seem like innocent pieces of artwork, but they could actually be damaging to your home. When snow falls and sticks to the roof, ice dams can form. Even a small amount of snow can cause ice dams to form. It happens when the layer between your roof and the snow begins to melt. It slides under the blanket of snow to the edge of your roof and begins to freeze. Eventually, these layers build up causing ice dams.
Large amounts of snow, and our cold temperatures this year, have caused vast amounts of ice dam problems and damage. These problems are especially prevalent with the amount of snow that our roofs have been holding. The combination of the top layer of snow, and the heat from the home can cause the bottom layer of snow to melt. Then, the weather gets colder and the melted snow refreezes and this triggers ice dams.
The damage that is produced can sometimes be obvious, and at times subtle. Symptoms of damage caused by ice dams may include water stains on your ceiling, shingles that become dislodged (this will not be noticeable until snow melts), damaged plaster, paint peeling, and torn-off gutters, or actual water seeping in. Upon inspection of the attic, you may find wet or even moldy beams. You may also find the same thing with your visible insulation.
If you find that you have water seeping into your home, you may need water damage restoration. Our team is equipped with advanced disaster recovery equipment to clean up after all kinds of water damage.
